Multicultural Development
Director: Watson Jones
The Multicultural Development Office (MDO) plans special speakers, movies, Chicago outings, forums, and celebrations that broaden perspectives and foster meaningful dialogues within our community. One multicultural group of students recently traveled by bus on a "Sankofa Journey," named for a mythical African bird that moves forward only by looking back. Together with staff members, the group visited sites important to the civil rights movement and spent time in discussion, prayer, worship, and reflection. The experience led to honest and powerful conversations that impacted all who went.
Purpose Statement
The MDO exists to serve students of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, by providing resources that promote academic success, cultural appreciation, and spiritual development, while facilitating community-wide dialogue and growth regarding matters of ethnic diversity from a biblical perspective.
Student Groups
Alpha Zeta Nu
President: Dan Lee
Our mission is to unite students that are part of the Asian-American community on Trinity's campus. We gather to be a vessel for Christ. Alpha Zeta Nu celebrates and explores the different Asian cultures that exist on campus. We are devoted to edifying ourselves through Bible study, prayer and worship; outreach through evangelism and community service. We will have fellowship by having fun events and interacting with other students; and be enlightened about all Asian cultures. Trips to various churches, nursing homes, and restaurants are some of the activities that the organization sponsors. Alpha Zeta Nu is not exclusively an Asian group, and is excited and encouraged to see non-Asians share in fellowship, for the glory of God. Amen.
"Christ Jesus, Himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In Him you are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit." Galatians 2:20-22
