Trinity's Honors Program . . .
- Fosters interdisciplinary thinking
- Allows students of any major to participate
- Mixes students of various fields together in a community of intellectual engagement
Is the extra rigor and work of taking honors courses worth the effort? You must make that judgment for yourself—but past Trinity students who have completed the Honors Program have gone on to distinguish themselves at, among other places:
- Law Schools at Duke and Northwestern
- Medical Schools at the Mayo Clinic, Penn, and Nebraska
- PhD programs at Notre Dame and USC
- Seminaries such as Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
Also, students who complete the Honors Program have a lower threshold for graduation honors than do other Trinity College students. For such students to graduate with highest honors (summa cum laude) requires a 3.80 GPA (instead of 3.95); high honors (magna cum laude) requires a 3.60 GPA (instead of 3.70).
Students who complete the honors program are appropriately cited at Commencement and have “Graduate of the Honors Program” appear on their transcripts.
Finally, only students in the Honors Program are eligible to apply to The Scholar's Semester in Oxford, a marvelous opportunity to study at Oxford University in England. Several of our recent honors graduates have taken advantage of this program.
